According to Zalen news update, at least 28 people have died and eight others remain missing due to landslides triggered by heavy rains in Mizoram over the past 24 hours. This disaster is a consequence of Cyclone Remal.
The Aizawl DC Office Control Room reported the following:
1. In Melthum, 14 people, including 4 non-tribals, have died, and 5 Mizos and 3 non-tribals are still missing.
2. Four people have died in Hlimen.
3. Three people have died in Salem Veng, Aizawl.
4. Two people have died in Falkawn.
5. One person has died in Lungsel.
6. One person has died in Kelsih.
7. Two people have died in Aibawk.
8. One person has died in Maubawk.
In response to the severe impact of the heavy rains, the Mizoram government has closed all offices and educational institutions.
